Disability- related abortion
First, welcome to the Living With Disabilities Advocacy Website. It's run by none other than Katrina Smith, who's a person with a learning disability. Her mission behind Living With Disabilities is to bring awareness to all people with disabilities.
Today, Living With Disabilities wants to talk about an article that was in the news recently about Abortion because of disability.
Governor Jim Justice of West Virginia signed paperwork making it unlawful for parents to abort their kid if they suspect the infant may have a disability. In the event of a medical emergency or when a pregnancy is "nonmedically feasible," the "Unchild with Disabilities Protection and Education Act" grants freedom. It was also one of the most controversial legislation voted on during the 2022 legislative session.
They went on to say that it would better protect disabled people. Others argue that the plan was simply a tool to push West Virginia's abortion laws forward. After 20 weeks, it is barricaded.Hearing how things are starting to turn out for people with disabilities makes Living With Disabilities proud.
