First, welcome to the Living With Disabilities Advocacy Website. It's run by none other than Katrina Smith, a person with a learning disability. Her mission behind Living With Disabilities is to bring awareness to all people with disabilities.

The Leak in Special Education classes is a topic that Living With Disabilities wishes to discuss.

What problems need to be resolved about special education classes? Are parents focused on the educational system, or are you focused on your child's IEP? Living With Disabilities strongly advises that you read or listen to the entire article if you are a parent of a child or a child's family.

Depending on the student's disability, learning might occasionally become challenging. Then, one or more teachers are collaborating with a student or group of students. After the student leaves class and enters study hour at their school, this also goes a little farther. Can the learner recall everything they were instructed on at that time? Each person learns at a different rate, therefore it all relies on them. Some people pick things up more quickly while others grasp onto things slower.

How to solve the biggest problem in the Special Education system?

From elementary school through high school, the host, Katrina Smith, attended a special education program. Some obstacles slowed her progress during her years in the system. We will discuss several problems that students may encounter in this area, living with a disability.

What are some of the challenges of Special Education?

These challenges, as well as those that certain teachers and students will encounter, are discussed in Living With Disabilities.

A+ for having a class with accommodations for students with a disability. These courses can, however, occasionally be very difficult. These are some of the difficult situations that can arise in a classroom.

  1. As we spoke before, not all students learn at the same pace.
  2. Some students can not stay seated for a prolonged time and focus.
  3. Some students act out, and they can cause danger to other students around them, which is considered bad behavior.
  4. Teachers or Teacher aides are not willing to give support to their students.
  5.  Some students who are autistic can not focus in a loud classroom setting. the noise can cause that student to go into a meltdown.
  6. inadequate services depending on the school district funding.
  7. Not enough special education teachers to hire in the area.
  8.  Change in schedule and routine.
  9.  Teacher and Staff change.
  10. Environment and location change.
  11. Some accommodations may not be met.
What are the limits of Special Education?

We have now discussed "What are some challenges in special education?" Let's discuss the restrictions placed on special education.

Katrina says to remember what she learned in middle school and high school.

She continued by stating that all topics were taught in a single class in middle school, except art, gym, and sewing. Science, math, and reading are all taught by the homeroom instructor.

Up until her junior and senior years of high school, most things stayed the same. And because pupils were not receiving a complete education in the homeroom, this adjustment was for the best. Together, faculty and staff decided to include students with disabilities in the regular education classroom. Accommodations were made for pupils with disabilities. But was it sufficient?

Living with disabilities makes thinking about education for those who have challenges or disabilities the first subject that comes to mind. communication is first. Can teachers and students communicate with one another? Do both parties respect each other's boundaries? Some kids might want explanations to be repeated, therefore as a teacher, you should be able to convey the point as clearly as you can for your pupils to understand.

Some students have trouble communicating, which can lead to misunderstandings between the student and the teacher.
How can both the teacher and the student handle a miscommunication if it does occur? Depending on the student's age or disability, a parent may or may not need to step in. When referring to nonverbal disabilities, the phrase "Living With Disabilities" is used. Nonverbal disabilities rely on a student's body language or a communication device if they have one. The parent should have explained to the teacher what various body gestures indicate in terms of interpreting a student's body language. since parents are more conscious of their kids' behavior.

What are the challenges faced by special education Teachers?

What difficulties do students in the special education program face?
Even students struggle from time to time. These issues could include:

  1. Feeling different from the other students in the school.
  2. They feel the teacher can't teach at their level.
  3. Joining in on their IEP meeting.
  4. Classes in special education could be too simple for them. then the majority of the school's students.
  5. The teacher aide keeps changing each year.
What other challenges do students with disabilities encounter?

Katrina claims she had several problems in high school, but the first one she can remember is the time she had to take her test in Spanish class separately from the rest of the class. Explaining what she needed to do and was not allowed to do was the difficult part of the situation. She consequently spoke with her Spanish teacher about what had happened before speaking with her homeroom teacher.

There was a leak in verbal communication between the student and Teacher aide in Katrina's situation and she knew the angle in how to address it professionally.
