First, welcome to the Living With Disabilities Advocacy Website. It's run by none other than Katrina Smith, a person with a learning disability. Her mission behind Living With Disabilities is to bring awareness to all people with disabilities.
Tranabled is a topic that Living With Disabilities wishes to discuss.
About this subject, Living with Disabilities is fired up. Living With Disabilities needs to discuss this subject while also stepping outside our comfort zone for the following reasons.
Let's define the term "transabled" for our listeners and readers who are on the other side of the Cyberworld. A person who is able-bodied must change his or her capacity to become impaired. Do transabled persons now fall under the umbrella of the disabled community? And why is this a conversation point?
The temperature is rising to that of hell. Does BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder)even qualify as being a disability? This topic is heartbreaking and it does need to be put out there at the forefront because this does happen in society. Living With Disabilities took a trip back in time to watch an episode about a young lady who blinded herself on purpose, by pouring drain cleaner into her eyes. And when asked does she have any regrets about doing it? her reply is "no, she always felt she should have been born blind.
Does Body Integrity Identity Disorder fall under the category of a disability? Many healthcare professionals have had this on their desks or in their minds. And Living With Disabilities will comment on this from a non-professional perspective. Living with Disabilities will express their opinion despite professionals' belief that it has not yet been classified as a mental health issue. We may all recall how it felt to harbor a Superman or Superwoman dream as a young child. flying around the home while wearing a cape. These thoughts of becoming a superman or superwoman as a child never came true because they are all just dreams. Here's where Living With Disabilities will vocalize their thoughts. Any time a person feels they should be disabled and goes to the extreme of disfiguring their body, evaluation needs to be taken into play. This is clearly a see-saw of vision here. There is a mental underline going on here. As to what is causing these visions of wanting to be a person with a disability, leave a blank. The other part of this is a fantasy.
Disability cannot be changed; it is a birth defect or the result of an accident. Body parts are being transformed through transabily. the body's arms, legs, or any other body part. Living With Disability refers to it in this instance as "False Ability" because the individual was neither born with it or acquired it by accident.
