We're in this together
Today, Living With Disabilities wants to talk about the disabled community.
Around 15% of the world's population has some sort of disability, with 2–4% of them experiencing considerable difficulty in functioning. In addition, the prevalence of disability is higher in poorer countries.
How would society know about the disabled population and all the challenges that individuals with disabilities had to go through if it wasn't for Crip Camp, a Nexflix Documentary?
Some parts of society got the memo about what people with disabilities need and some parts of society are still acting like people with disabilities are transparent. They don't exist on this planet. This is enough to give a person heartburn. And it just does not stop there. In every state and city, Living With Disabilities may add, Vocational Rehabilitation, which has been discussed before, won't lift a finger in helping. And this is no Comedic matter, Living With Disabilities is talking about here. Like, businesses need customers to keep them running, and People with disabilities need accessibility this has been brought up over and over again.
So, are people with disabilities tired of protesting their needs? You bet every dime, nickel, quarter, and a dollar bill, every person is tired. But, every person who has to stand up and fight for their rights sure as hell won't give Society space to continue this hurtful act.
This July will mark the 32nd anniversary of the ADA. Is it possible for businesses that have yet to lift a finger to get something right for the first time? Can folks who were shut away before the pandemic see the light of day and work alongside their able-bodied peers? There are a lot of questions that need to be answered in Living With Disabilities. Businesses that are expected to assist people with disabilities are included. Take, for example, Vocational Rehabilitation.
Living With Disabilities recently heard a story about a young lady who was having trouble finding reliable transportation in her city. And she was given the runaround by vocational rehabilitation. On several levels, this isn't cool. So, what steps may be made to ensure that reliable transportation is available?
Many people with various disabilities have had a variety of experiences with VR in terms of acquiring the items they required. In exchange, they're treated as if they're invisible.
The government would rather keep fixing up the street that has been repaired once or twice before than put money into funding better programs for those with disabilities. If you have not read my previous post on The Cracks in Disability Rehabilitation, Living With Disabilities highly recommends you give it a read. And if you are a person who works in a VRC, don't just lie in bed and think people with disabilities can do without your service because they do need it. So, don't wait until it's too late to act on cracks.
Here is where Living With Disabilities is driving at, don't wait until something bad happens to you, knowing now that you need accommodating services, where you didn't see a problem before your occurrence.
How can people with disabilities get through to our governmental system without them taking our disabilities as mistakes written on paper, balled up on the floor next to the trash can?
Living With Disabilities has spoken on The Cracks in Disability Rehabilitation. So, now it's time to fix these cracks and make people with disabilities noticeable because we're people too.
Yet, you have over 700,000 people with disabilities creating their own businesses because the governmental system has been broken down without the care of trying to fix the issue in the VR system. "STOP!!!! "LOOK AT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AS A MISTAKE WAITING TO BE TOSSED OUT WITH THE REST OF THE GARBAGE". We're in 2022 now, and it's about time to listen to people with disabilities because we're in this together. We're fighting for what is right because we're in a world where everyone should work together. and not feel like we're being separated. Let's get this right.
